Simatech Shipping goes live with Xvela app
Simatech Shipping, a leading container feeder operator in Asia, has gone live with Xvela’s cloud-based stowage planning application.
Dubai-based stowage planning for Simatech’s fleet of container vessels is now performed “in the cloud” using Xvela’s collaborative SaaS stowage solution.
Captain Suhail Mukadam, operations manager at Simatech Shipping, said that the solution was having a “positive impact on the efficiency and productivity of our stowage planning team.”
Simatech stowage planners were able to move from the legacy PowerStow software to the cloud solution over a two week period earlier this year.
The Oakland-based company noted that since the transition was gradual, the traditional “big bang” go-live of on-premise software was eliminated, involving little downtime.
Now that Simatech’s stowage operations are managed in the cloud, the carrier aims to collaborate with its called terminals to improve communication and transparency around vessel calls and further increase operational efficiency.
According to a statement from Xvela, its integration with the Navis MAC3 onboard loading computer helps to increase the likelihood that the vessel will sail on time once load operations are complete.
Vessel Masters are able to log in to Xvela directly from the vessel to view current planning information in real time, including stability, lashing, hazardous segregation and line-of-sight results in advance of the vessel call.
